MCA Young Professionals Bureau DISAGREE with proposed changes to Income Tax Act

October 21, 2011 -- Proposed amendments to Section 81 of the Income Tax Act (ITA) as well as the insertion of a new Section 107 – both cases in which give unlimited power to the Director General (DG) of the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) where tax payers have no alternative measures to lodge an appeal has caused unease to all taxpayers and both foreign and domestic investors alike. In short, MCA Young Professionals Bureau chief YB Datuk Chua has described the proposed changes as a “dead-end if one is unable to comply within the notice period.”

Renewal of Driving License According to Birth Date

October 19, 2011 -- The initiative for Malaysians to have their driving license expire on their birthday will begin in mid-November 2011, said MCA Secretary-General Dato’ Seri Kong Cho Ha in his capacity as the Minister of Transport. The initiative, first revealed by the Cho Ha in July this year, was meant to help drivers to remember the date of renewal for their driving license as many drivers tend to use the excuse of forgetfulness.

Bridge Reconstruction in Taman Emas, Kepong -- 10th September, 2011

10th September, 2011 -- A bridge in Taman Emas, Kepong needs to be reconstructed after found broken. The crack was discovered 2 years ago, and the local residents have been barred from using the bridge since last year's September. According to MCA 1Malaysia Task Force Team's leader Banie Chin, the DBKL side received the formal complaint a year ago. and the funding already approved by the authorities. And team treasurer Tan Kok Eng pointed out the crack mainly due to the soil erosion, and reconstruction is needed to settle once and for all.

Jakarta lifts ban on Indonesian maids working in Malaysia

October 20, 2011 -- KUALA LUMPUR: Jakarta said it will lift its ban on Indonesian maids working in Malaysia from December 1.
The ban, already in place for two and a half years, has resulted in a shortage of domestic helpers in Malaysia.

BN component parties go on signature drive to ‘Save Bukit Bintang’

October 19, 2011 -- THE Bukit Bintang Barisan Nasional component parties have come out in support of the stakeholders in Bukit Bintang whose properties are affected by the Klang Valley My Rapid Transit (MRT) project.
Federal Territory 1Malaysia MCA Task Force deputy team leader Frankie Gan said Umno, People’s Progressive Party (PPP) and Gerakan had pledged to support the affected land and property owners and had launched a signature campaign called ‘Save Bukit Bintang’.

Signature campaign against MRT station at Bukit Bintang

October 18, 2011 -- A signature campaign to protest the building of a Klang Valley Mass Rapid (KVMRT) station in the middle of Jalan Bukit Bintang was launched today.
The week-long campaign was organised by traders and residents of Bukit Bintang who wanted the owner of the KVMRT, MRT Corp Sdn Bhd, to abandon its decision to build a single station instead of two as previously planned.

PAS is only acting that they are sensitive to non-Muslims feelings on hudud

October 14, 2011 -- PAS spiritual advisor Dato’ Nik Aziz can be sensitive to other races and religion simply because they do not have the necessary numbers to amend the Federal Constitution to allow them to implement hudud laws. So the question is, why has DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng not responded to the challenge by MCA Vice-President Senator Gan Ping Sieu to debate on how  they plan to prevent the implementation of hudud?

October 13, 2011 -- The words of DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng claiming that hudud laws are not part of Pakatan’s election agenda are empty talk, and completely meaningless. Dangerous Arms Sold in Public -- 10th September, 2011

10th September, 2011 -- The electric stun gun, tear gas, blades, sex pills were sold at the open market in Pudu area, and traders claimed these weapons sold to those who needed protection against snatch thieves and molesters. The electric stun gun capable of producing 30,000 volt and can put a person into a coma. The MCA 1Malaysia Task Force Team - FT lodged reports at Dang Wangi Police Station, deputy team leader Frankie Gan said according to The Star, many traders openly selling these dangerous items to the public, teenagers and females bought the most of the stuff.

October 12, 2011 --  約200名武吉免登業者及店主在武吉免登路舉行和平請願,促請捷運公司(MRT CO.)及陸路公共交通委員會,根據原有計劃在當地建設東、西捷運站,並非拆除武吉免登路30多間店舖,以建設捷運站及綜合大廈。
業者今日在馬華聯邦直轄區聯委會“一個馬來西亞工作隊”帶領下,在武吉免登路口高舉橫幅及大字報,促請政府聽取人民意見,不要拆除當地店舖以“讓路”給捷運計劃。

August manufacturing sales up 10.8%

October 11, 2011 -- The sales value of the manufacturing sector in August saw a double-digit growth of 10.8 per cent to RM49.8 billion against the RM45 billion recorded in the same month last year.
The year-on-year growth in sales value was generated by sales growth in 79 industries out of the 115 covered in the survey, the Department of Statistics Malaysia said in a statement today.

August Industrial Production Index up 3%

October 11, 2011 -- Malaysia's Industrial Production Index (IPI) increased 3.0 per cent to 110.6 in August, from 107.4 recorded in the same month last year, and was up 2.6 per cent against July, the Statistics Department said today.

Malaysia mulling separate lanes for pedestrians and motor-cyclists

Budget 2012 proves BN puts ‘people first’, says MCA

October 7, 2011 -- MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek today welcomed the prime minister’s Budget 2012, saying the steps to pad the public’s pocket in view of rising living costs worldwide proved the ruling Barisan Nasional was a “people first” government.
The former health minister lauded the Najib administration’s initiatives to help the public cut down on spending unnecessarily, such as waiving school fees and tax on places of worship, while giving money directly to those who needed the extra cash the most.

Budget 2012 good for schools, students — Rep

October 9, 2011 -- Budget 2012 would benefit schools and students, hence the rakyat should be thankful to the Barisan Nasional (BN) government.

Will Lim Guan Eng be asked to resign if judged by the same standards?

October 6, 2011 -- The abuses hurled at the Health Minister and MCA Deputy President Dato’ Sri Liow TIong Lai by Tony Pua shows that DAP is now desperate, whereby they had been put into awkward positions when their Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng had to apologize to the Sultan of Johor for slandering the state, and also due to their inability to stop PAS from implementing hudud. Therefore, their constant criticisms towards MCA are meant for them to recover themselves from these disadvantageous situations.

Najib announces release of all held under Restricted Residence Act

October 6, 2011 -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak yesterday announced the immediate release of 125 people held under the Restricted Residence Act 1933 and the cancellation of more than 200 warrants yet to be served.
The announcement comes in the wake of the motion to repeal the act tabled for second reading in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday by the prime minister.

PM: Banishment law no longer relevant and should be repealed

October 6, 2011 -- THE Banishment Act 1959 has not been used in the last 24 years, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak told the House while tabling the Banishment (Repeal) Bill for second reading.
He said cases of detention and deportation of foreigners were handled under the Immigration Act 1959/63, which also contained the same provisions as those under the Banishment Act.
